Indigenous Peoples in Taiwan, especially those whose traditional territories extend to the Central Range, have developed rich and yet similar ways of life as they have derived abundant resources from the nature not only for harvest, food, and all things related to tribal development, but also for rituals, myths, and values. Facing environmental and ecological degradation, stringent legal regulations, rising tides of animal protection movement, and reluctant migratory trends to the urban areas, indigenous hunting activities are severely restricted. It is wondered what meanings hunting is still pertinent to the Indigenous Peoples here. We have observed the life stories of a few seasoned hunters from the Tfuya tribes of the Tsou People, and made efforts to elicit any cultural changes and endeavored to understand the causes.
