我們先將探討民族主義研究的基本課題，包括民族的形成、以及民族主義的規範性考量；接著，我們會針對一些相關名詞作簡單的釋義，特別是民族與以及其漢字翻譯；再來，我們會檢討個人歷年來就民族認同所嘗試的各種概念架構。在後半部，我們將回顧台灣民族主義的發展、檢視現在的挑戰、並前瞻未來的走向。

We shall start with the investigation of some basic issues in studying nationalism, including nation formation and the normative considerations imbedded in the origin of nationalism. We then move to delineate some fundamental concepts, including nation and nation-state, and discuss their proper translations into Han-Chinese. Further, we will review all the conceptual frameworks for the formation of national identity that we have developed over the years. Finally, we will review the development of Taiwanese nationalism, scrutinize its challenges, and envisage its future.
