The main motivation of this research is to explore the relationship

between people, space and identifies through an activity of root tracing

journey held by the Paiwan community.

Searching old community domains has become more and more

intriguing among aboriginal societies in Taiwan these years. That is the

first step for the community people to realize their own history and

culture. The research made a dialogue with the relevant theories by way

of deliberate field study to present the inner mindset of community

settlement space in Paiwan people and recognize the more delicate

significance of Paiwan’s social structure and culture.

The most leading purpose of this research is to explore the

relationship between space and identifies. The article shows the spatial

domain treading and probing of the aboriginals that denotes they’re

writing their history and culture as well as striding the first step of ethnic

identifies.
