Abstract

The purpose of this study is to apply the “ WIHIC” to investigate Hualien Aboriginal students and Han nationality students between the differences of perceptions in science classroom learning environment. The students questionnaire investigated are the 819 ones of a 28-class-junior high school students in a level land towns. The results show the different perceptions of the Aboriginals and Han people toward science classroom learning environment.

The average mark of impression by which students of the Han nationality study are investigated to the scientific classroom is slightly more than Aboriginal students, but it has not obviously reached the difference of showing. If we inspect the score situation of seven pieces of weight form respectively further, we can find Han students’ perceptions in task orientation(TO) and equal (E) the impression on two pieces of weight form is apparently more (p<0.05 ) than Aboriginal students. In addition, there is no remarkable differences in student cohesiveness, teacher support (TS), student involvement (SI), investigation, and cooperation etc.

The quality data parts is collecting by interview, making use of questionnaire data to guide the collection of the quality materials, including the teachers'' and students'' interviews in order to confirm the result degree presented of questionnaire, and explain different meanings of the average of each weight form.

To sum up, there are no remarkable differences in the perceptions of the students of two major ethnicities toward science classroom learning environment. It just indicates that Han students surpass Aboriginal students slightly. That is to say, though the two groups come from different social culture background, their perceptions toward studying in the environment in the same natural science curriculum of the school are close.
