Since the open access of the People of Republic of China (P.R.C.), the number of Taiwanese companies investing business in China has increased. As a result, it forms a trend of establishing subsidiaries in China and headquarters in Taiwan. Therefore, to increase the applications of IT in headquarters to facilitate management becomes an important issue for headquarters in Taiwan. And this study is motivated to understand whether the geographical change in business scope results in the increase of adoption in infrastructure in headquarters.
The purpose of this study was to explore whether IT Infrastructure capability in the headquarters in Taiwan had increased due to the establishment of subsidiaries in China, and whether IS department headquarters transferred knowledge to subsidiaries.The method to carry out this study was case study. The subjects were three companies in Taiwan which established subsidiaries in China.
The results showed that IT Infrastructure capability in the headquarters in Taiwan had increased due to the establishment of subsidiaries in China.
