ABSTRACT The purposes of this study were to investigate the relationship between demographical factors, psychological factors (social supports, self-efficacy, perceived benefits/barrier), to physical activity of Han and Aborigine adolescents in Hualien.Eight hundred thirty-one adolescents from two Hualien junior high schools were recruited as subjects. Both a structured questionnaire and Bouchard three-day physical activity questionnaire with the internal consistency and validity of Cronbach’s alphas ranged from 0.66 to 0.93 were used in this study. The statistical techniques such as t-test, and multiple regression、two-way ANOVA, and pearson correlation were used for analyzing data using the SPSS 10.0 software on a personal computer.Study results were indicated as follows: 1. Physical activity in male adolescents was significant higher than in female adolescents. 2. Physical activity in Aborigine male adolescents was significant higher than in Han adolescents. 3. Sex was the important predictable factors of physical activity in adolescents of Aborigine and Han. 4. Sex,whether students participated the sport club, perceived barrier were the predicable factors of physical activity in the Aborigine. 5. Sex,whether students were members of school athletic team, perceived benefits were the predicable factors of physical activity in the Han. 6. Psychological factors were significantly related to physical activity. As a result. This study provides schools with information on how to increase students Physical activity.
