In these years culture-and-innovation-oriented products have been eagerly developed and produced in the realm of design. This research, on one hand, makes the story of every product stronger; on the other hand, delivers new understanding of aboriginal culture to public by taking the Sakuliu of Paiwan tribe as an example in cultural area.

This research proposes four elements which influence the innovation of Sakuliu through the crossing evidences from referring documents, observing and interviewing. In the second section, this research constructs the pattern which is transferred from cultural art to innovation design and conducts the creation of innovative product design. In the third section, the research holds a combined exhibition of cultural art and innovation design, “Aboriginal Fantasy”, located in the Chang Gung University cultural village. Last, this research takes the records by interviewing with experts for discussion.

Three discoveries from this research are as follows. First, researchers can get new views and cognition of art creators during the process of researching the elements which influence the innovation of Sakuliu. Second, designers can create products which possess rich cultural meanings by the patterns transferring from culture and art to innovation design. Third, the combined exhibition of cultural art and innovation design makes the innovations goes into the real living environment of the village and encourages visitors to feel, touch and use personally.

Designs without the veins of hundred-pace snake do not mean that they have nothing to do with Paiwan tribe. As a creator of live value, a designer should be prudent when designing cultural products. How to truly deliver the cultural meaning to users is far more important than the cultural display of copying and pasting.
