《依海之人》作者，倫敦政經學院人類學系Rita Astuti教授
訪台演講系列 *2017/9/4（一）、9/5（二）*

Rita Astuti教授專長為認同、親屬、性別、認知人類學、發展心理學、跨文化研究等。她長期研究馬達加斯加的斐索人，自1987年起多次進行田野工作。《依海之人》為其最知名的學術著作，奠定其在認同、馬達加斯加研究的地位。中文版近期已由 左岸文化出版。

Astuti教授近期的研究主要以認知人類學為主，多次重返馬達加斯加，以新的研究設計，包括與心理學家協同跨領域研究，探討斐索人的各種認知概念，並進行不同文化間的比較，重新檢討西方人類學、心理學的概念、理論和預設。

首度來台，Astuti教授將在中研院民族所進行兩場公開演講。開放參與，毋需報名。

Working with Psychologists and What More I’ve Learnt About the Vezo of Madagascar

In this talk, I will present highlights of the work I have done in collaboration with developmental psychologists, which has allowed me to revisit key aspects of the ethnographic analysis I presented in People of the sea on kinship, ethnicity and death. I will aim to show that this work has added depth to my understanding of the Vezo while contributing to the joint interdisciplinary task of understanding human cognitive development.

演講系列之二：馬達加斯加的長期田野

People on the Move: the Vezo of Betania 30 Years on

In this talk, I will explore how the livelihoods of the Vezo of Betania, Madagascar, have changed since I did my original fieldwork in the village 30 years ago. I will pay particular attention to the changes in social relations that have been brought about by seasonal migration and the use of new fishing equipment. I will argue that amid these changes one can recognise a distinctive Vezo signature, which is rooted in the kind of economic ideology I documented in People of the sea.
