特定的原住民族或是當地部落和特定的領域、地區或是自然資源通常擁有緊密的關係，當這個關係與當地有效的管理和自然保育結合，就稱為原住民族與部落傳統領域（傳領，ICCAs）。傳領是保育、永續生存與尊重集體權（collective rights）最明確的前線。過去十年來，在不同經濟與政治力量對環境所做的破壞之下，傳領被視為自然保育最重要的要素，其中包含傳統習俗的延續、復振與調整。原住民族與部落傳統領域聯盟（the ICCA Consortium）則是在地區、國家、國際等不同的場合，支持傳領並推動傳領的國際組織。

A close association is often found between a specific indigenous people or local community and a specific territory, area or body of natural resources. When such an association is combined with effective local governance and conservation of nature, we speak of “ICCAs”. ICCAs is a bold frontier for conservation, sustainable livelihoods and the respect of collective rights. In the last decades, ICCAs have become known and recognized as essential features for the conservation of nature, under attack by a variety of economic and political forces on the planet. The ICCA Consortium is an international association dedicated to promoting the appropriate recognition of and support to ICCAs (Indigenous Peoples’ and Community Conserved Areas and Territories) in the regional, national and global arena.
