蓋亞那美洲印地安人協會的目標是促進美洲印第安人的社區能在社會、經濟、政治和文化發展方面彼此團結，並提升與捍衛自己的權利。該協會的長期目標是確保立法與政策的改變在任何情況下都能保障原住民的權利；鼓勵原住民出來代表自己的族群；提供原住民社區國內與國際法條中有關原住民權利的資訊；推動原住民永續使用自然資源、保護環境；確保能參與任何會影響蓋亞那原住民生活的發展計畫及決策過程；確保國家對原住民社區履行基本服務義務，例如健康、教育、交通和通訊服務等等。

The objectives of the Amerindian Peoples Association of Guyana are to promote the social, economic, political and cultural development of Amerindian communities in solidarity with each other and to promote and defend their rights. The long term goal of the APA is to secure legislative and policy changes to protect indigenous rights in all instances, to promote representation of indigenous peoples by indigenous peoples themselves, to provide information to indigenous communities about their rights under national and international law, to promote the sustainable use of the natural resources by indigenous peoples and to ensure the protection of the environment, to secure participation in development activities and decision making processes that affect the lives of the indigenous peoples of Guyana, and to ensure that the state fulfill its obligations in providing basic services to indigenous communities such as health, education, transportation and communication services.
