原住民的土地所有權被澳洲法律所承認，也就是承認有些原住民在他們的土地上享有來自傳統律法和習俗的權利和利益。澳洲原住民土地所有權裁決所幫助人們及時且有效地去取得應有的土地所有權。在參與爭取土地所有權的過程中，參與者可以要求裁決所提供資訊與幫助。原住民土地所有權的取得可經由三種方式：原住民土地所有權的申請與確定，原住民土地使用協議和未來法案協議。

Native title is the recognition by Australian law that some Indigenous people have rights and interests to their land that come from their traditional laws and customs. The National Native Title Tribunal assists people to facilitate timely and effective native title outcomes. On request, the Tribunal can provide assistance and information to all people involved in the native title process. There are three approaches to negotiating native title: Native title claims (applications and determinations), Indigenous land use agreements (ILUA) and Future act agreements.
