本研究主要以阿美族的北阿美群、中阿美群與南阿美群之傳統家屋為研究對象，藉由文獻與訪談的互相印證，一方面追溯阿美族傳統家屋的空間構成特質與背後的文化意涵，另一方面以詮釋的方法探索阿美族人對於家屋所賦予的深層意義。希冀藉此了解阿美族傳統住居文化的基礎知識，同時也為檢討現今阿美族住屋以及未來興建相關建築時提供基礎規範。

研究內容因此主要在於追溯阿美族傳統家屋的空間形式、使用功能、構造、背後的文化意涵、以及影響空間形式構成的因子。根據本研究的分析討論，可以歸納出阿美族對自己家屋的使用與其文化背景、倫理道德、禁忌、神靈觀、宇宙觀、位序觀等居住觀念及營建方式與系統、材料的生產息息相關。關於阿美族傳統家屋的特性本研究獲得的主要結論如下：

（一）其特性為群聚性並且為雙元主體關係。

（二）空間使用具有彈性。

（三）空間使用具有位序觀念。

（四）空間具有人與神靈共居的居住觀念。

（五）中介空間為不同功能空間的潤滑劑。

以此一結論為基礎，筆者試圖對此作進一步的詮釋。藉由「被標記的女體」來詮釋阿美族的傳統家屋──亦即從「被標記的女體」之構成元素中的「女體的本質」來探討群聚式雙元主體的關係、宇宙觀、神靈觀；以「標記」來說明位序觀、神靈觀；「影子和反影」作為越過界線，在不同空間遊走的中介空間；「複本」用來探討神靈觀與彈性使用性──筆者將得以描述出這些屬於「阿美族標記」的阿美族傳統家屋特性。

This thesis is the research for the traditional dwelling of Amis clan, which can be divided into north, middle, and south Amis clans. By means of document study and interviews, this research first tries to explore the characteristics of spatial construction and the cultural meanings inherent in the traditional dwelling of Amis clan. And then, the author interprets the inner meaning of dwelling endowed by the Amis clan per se. This is for the better understanding of the fundamental knowledge of traditional dwelling culture of Amis clan, as for the providing of basic rules for the reflection of current dwelling of Amis clan and the building for future.

The content of this thesis therefore traces the spatial forms, functions, constructions, cultural meanings, and the factors which influence the composition of spatial form in the traditional dwelling of Amis clan. According to the analysis, we can find that the dwelling of Amis clan is bound up with their concept of dwelling, which comprises cultural background, ethics, taboos, concept of divinity, world view, and concept of hierarchy. It also involves with constructive methods, system, and the production of materials. The main conclusions are:

A. Assembling and dual subject are the characteristics of traditional dwelling of Amis clan.

B. The use of space is flexible.

C. The use of space is hierarchical.

D. Human beings and divinities dwell together.

E. In-between space is the lubricator of divergent spatial entities.

Based on the conclusion, the author tries to give further interpretations to the traditional dwelling of Amis clan. The author relies on “labeled female body” to portray the characters of the traditional dwelling of Amis clan which belong to “the mark of Amis clan”. Which means: “the essence of female body” explores the assembling and the dual subject, the concept of divinity, and the world view. “Label” explores the concept of hierarchy and the concept of divinity. “Shadow and reflection” as a kind of in-between space, which is beyond the boundary and travels around different spaces. And finally, “duplicate copy” discusses the concept of divinity and flexibility.
