The four major functions of the museum include: research, collecting, exhibition, and education. Although exhibition has always been the most obvious function, museums have also tried to interpret cultural value through performances in recent years. Therefore, """"cultural performances"""" have begun to become a new type of museum exhibitions and furthermore to provide another new way of communication with their visitors.

Indigenous people in Taiwan often use ballads, body rhythms, singing and dance dramas, music performances, etc., to attract others through dynamic activities, so that they can understand the cultural connotation of each ethnic group. However, after the traditional rituals and music and dance of the indigenous people are listed as intangible cultural heritage, how feasible is the museum to use cultural performances as a new way for intangible cultural heritage? What kind of challenges will the museum face when it cooperates with art and cultural groups to preserve and promote cultural value by means of performances? Can a museum, as a large-scale cultural organisation, provide a suitable stage to establish a long-term mutually beneficial mechanism with art and cultural groups?

This research aims to understand the meaning and value of cultural heritage through the scrutiny of the literature and exploration of preservation of the intangible cultural heritage of the indigenous people and the performing arts environment in Taiwan. Furthermore, the researcher analyzes the possibility of cultural performance in museums. Therefore, this research adopts semi-structured interview as the research method and chose the Naluwan Dance Troupe of Taiwan Indigenous Cultural Park as the target. Another method is to conduct visitor questionnaire survey for data collecting. In addition to multimedia media such as films, the museum uses """"cultural performances"""" as a way of exhibitions to conduct intangible cultural heritage with an overview of the problems faced. Then the researcher also explores the possibility of cooperation and development between the museum and indigenous art groups.
